As the cost of staging a ESS Summer Schools is affected by the rising cost of living too, we work hard to navigate the fine line between affordable workhop access, creating a varied and exciting programme, and ensuring the experience is memorable and full of new connections and inspiration for everyone attending.
Below you will find the fees for this year’s event, which we have arrived at after much deliberation between the generous invitees, Friendship Inn staff, the Finnish Shakuhachi Association and the European Shakuhachi Society.

Summer School Participation Fees Only
Access to all workshops and events, does not include meals or accommotation
You can select how you want to participate in this year’s summer school. These passes give you access to all workshops, events, concerts for all the days of the summer school (29 July – 1 August inclusive), for accommodation and meal options see the next section.

We want to make the summer school as accessible as possible to everyone, so we also offer some more flexible options for anyone who prefers to make alternative arrangements. In the online registration form you will have the option to indicate what dates you are planning to join us and if you require meals too. All day-pass payments will be handled at the venue on the day of your participation.

Camping
If you are interested in camping on the grounds of the FriendshipInn, it is possible but there are limited spaces available. Please contact us directly at info@shakuhachisociety.eu for more details, costs and arrangements. Also see the venue and transport page for some information about camping facilities. Simply book your Summer School Participation Pass to join the activities and/or a meal package if you want.
Hitoyogiri
During this year’s Summer School we will hold a short workshop for making your own hitoyogiri. You can bring your own piece of bamboo, or you can purchase a blank piece of bamboo to participate in this workshop (€20). Please use our online registration form to register interest in bamboo and workshop.
